The Announcer helps keep the meet running smoothly by communicating with swimmers, officials, timers, and spectators. The Announcer calls swimmers to the blocks, announces upcoming events, and helps everyone stay on schedule. This role requires staying attentive to the meet timeline and keeping track of which events have been called.

Before the Race
After the whistles, and before the race begins, announce:
“Swimmers, step behind your blocks. Madam/Mister Starter.”
The Starter will then take over the starting procedure.
After the Beep
As swimmers are getting out of the water, begin calling the next event:
- First Call (say the event)
- Second Call (say the event)
- Final Call (say the event)
Make marks or notes on your event sheet to help you remember which calls have already been made.
⏱️ Timer Position Changes
We recommend circling events on the heatsheet anytime there is a shift to 25 meter events. For these events, the timers will switch sides of the pool.
- 25-meter events: Timers are at the shallow end of the pool.
- 50 & 100-meter events: Timers are at the block end of the pool.
Make an annoucment to have timers move to the other side of the pool during these shifts.

Before the meet begins and after moving locations, check with each lane to make sure the timers are present and ready.
